This is the tidbit of teenage angst attempting to make a statement i'm allowing myself this year. It didn't turn out as i expected at all (thought that's not necessarily a bad thing), and I used crappy crayola tempera because I didn't have any acrylic, and i'm not allowed to use oils in the garage where the pilot light is. lol. But still...it fills another spot in my AP Art portfolio this year. Ugh...2-D blows. I collected these clippings all through the months of January and February.
I came back and edited the composition some, tried to make it work more after some highly helpful critiques from my art teacher and (for the first time! ) some people here on DA. (hintCrimsonTigresshint) YAY!
This is such a great piece! I love the symbolism involved and the effect you gave it with the head drowning in water superimposed on the newsprint is really breath taking. That is just really great craftsmanship.
The only thing I will say is the composition is a little too boxed. I don't know if that was part of your intention but it just seems very centered and it feels like it might have been placed better on the composition.
All around though, this is better than a lot of work I see at my university.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
